Hi,
We recently found that some wordpress users are having slow web load speed. Our research showed that in most cases this problem is caused by having more than 15 active wordpress plugins, and in some cases more than 50 images on the homepage and/or other pages. This can be quickly fixed: 1) If you have many plugins and your website loads slow, then you must install some WordPress Caching plugin. This will speed up your website enormously since it wont need to generate the page every time a visitor opens your website, but once each few hours. We recommend you to use WP-SUPER-CACHE since we used it on many other accounts and shows as the most reliable one available. 2) if you have many images, then you should try to decrease the number of images loaded per page and paginate them, and/or reduce -- optimize -- their quality. We are working with many web developers and it is generally accepted that websites should not publish images larger than 800px wide (unless you're a desktop wallpaper site) and image JPEG compression should be around 60%-75% in order to be optimal. 3) If your website still loads slow, then maybe some of your plugins is not working as it should be. In this case we suggest upgrading all plugins to the latest versions. If this does not help, you can troubleshoot by disabling plugins one-by-one until you find the troublemaker. If all those advises do not work for your situation, please feel free to contact us for advanced troubleshooting. The Maiahost Support Team. |
